Ayra Starr is one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising music stars. Born in Cotonou, Benin, to Nigerian parents and raised in Nigeria, she developed a passion for music from a young age. Before becoming a full-time musician, she worked as a fashion model and shared song covers on social media, where her talent caught the attention of music executive Don Jazzy. She was later signed to Mavin Records in 2019.

She made her official debut in 2021 with her self-titled EP, which featured the hit song “Away.” Later that year, she released her debut album 19 & Dangerous, featuring the chart-topping single “Bloody Samaritan,” the first solo song by a female artist to reach No. 1 on Nigeria’s TurnTable Top 50 chart.
