Biography
Shatta wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr. on October 17, 1984, is one of Ghana’s most influential and controversial dancehall artists. He hails from Accra and is widely known for his energetic performance and strong presence in the African music industry.
He first gained recognition in the early 2000’s under the name Bandana with the hit song “Moko Hoo”, After a break from the music scene, he made a powerful comeback in 2013 with “Dancehall,” which earned him massive fame and rebranded him as Shatta Wale.
Over the years, Shatta Wale has released numerous hit songs and built a loyal fanbase Known as the Shatta Movement. His music blend dancehall, afrobeats, and local Ghanaian sounds, making him a dominant force in the industry.
In 2019, he gained international attention after collaborating with Beyonce on the song “Already”, which was featured on The Lion King: The Gift album.
Known for his confidence, outspoken personalty, and consistency in dropping hits, Shatta Wale remains one of the most talked-about and successful artists in Africa.
