Biography
Tyla is a South African singer-songwriter who has become one of Africa’s biggest global music stars. She began her career by releasing her debut single “Getting Late” in 2019, which gained popularity in South Africa and led to her signing with Epic Records in 2021.
Her international breakthrough came in 2023 with the hit single “Water.” The song went viral on TikTok, entered the top 10 in several countries, and became the first song by a South African solo artist to reach the Billboard Hot 100 in more than 50 years.
In 2024, Tyla released her self-titled debut album, Tyla, featuring collaborations with artists such as Tems, Gunna, and Becky G. The album further established her as one of the leading voices in modern African pop.
