Biography

R2Bees is one of Ghana’s most influential music duos, made up of cousins Omar Sterling and Mugeez. Formed in 2007 in Tema, they built a reputation for blending hiplife, Afrobeats, hip hop, and highlife into a distinctive sound that has earned them fans across Africa and beyond.

They gained mainstream attention with early hits such as “Yawa Gal,” “I Dey Mad,” and “Kiss Your Hand.” Their debut album, Da Revolution (2009), established them as one of Ghana’s top music acts. They followed it with Refuse to Be Broke – Da Revolution II (2013), Site 15 (2019), and Back 2 Basics (2021), featuring collaborations with artists such as Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Sarkodie, King Promise, and Joeboy.

In 2013, R2Bees received a BET Awards nomination for Best International Act: Africa, further cementing their place among Africa’s leading music groups. They have also been recognized by Forbes Africa as one of the continent’s entertainment acts to watch.
