Biography
Gyakie, born Jackline Acheampong, is a Ghanaian singer-songwriter known for her blend of Afro-soul, Afropop, Afro-fusion, and R&B. She emerged as one of Ghana’s most recognisable contemporary music exports after her breakout hit “Forever”, building an international audience through soulful vocals, heartfelt songwriting, and collaborations with artists across Africa and beyond.

Career
Raised in Kumasi, Gyakie grew up in a musical family as the daughter of celebrated Ghanaian highlife musician Nana Acheampong. She launched her recording career in 2019 while studying International Business at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), steadily gaining attention with early singles before achieving continental success with Forever.
Musical style and influence
Her music combines Afro-soul, Afrobeats, highlife, and contemporary R&B, with lyrics that often focus on love, relationships, vulnerability, and self-expression. Gyakie’s smooth vocal delivery and melodic songwriting have become defining features of her work, earning her the nickname “Songbird”.
