Wendy Shay is a Ghanaian Afropop and Afrobeats singer-songwriter who rose to prominence in 2018. She became one of Ghana’s most recognisable contemporary female artistes following the success of her debut single, building a career marked by charting songs, energetic performances, and a strong public profile.

Career

After spending part of her youth in Germany, Wendy Shay returned to Ghana to pursue music professionally. She signed with RuffTown Records under manager Bullet and released “Uber Driver” in June 2018, a breakthrough hit that quickly established her in the Ghanaian music industry. Before becoming a full-time musician, she trained and worked as a nurse and midwife.

Wendy Shay’s music blends Afropop, Afrobeats, highlife, and elements of hiplife. Her songs often explore themes of love, confidence, resilience, relationships, and women’s empowerment while incorporating danceable rhythms and contemporary African production.
