Biography
Joey B, whose real name is Darryl Paa Kwesi Bannerman-Martin, is a Ghanaian rapper, singer, and songwriter born on 20 August 1989 in Cape Coast. He is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most influential hip-hop and Afrobeats artists, known for his unique style, creativity, and versatility.
Joey B discovered his passion for music at an early age and began writing songs as a child. He attended St. Theresa’s School, later studied at Accra High School, and graduated from Zenith University College. His career took off after working with producer Jayso and the Skillions music collective.
His breakthrough came in 2014 with the smash hit “Tonga” featuring Sarkodie. The song became one of Ghana’s biggest hits and earned Joey B the New Artiste of the Year award at the 2014 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
